At Montessori Makers, we’re examining Montessori education in the modern classroom. Our materials are designed to honor the timeless principles of Montessori while addressing the needs of today’s learners. Our first offering, a set of decodable books, offers children reading material to support their growing understanding of language in a way that aligns with the Science of Reading and doesn't step on the toes of existing Montessori materials.

 

These books are carefully crafted to fit right into the Montessori classroom, with many illustrations, pictures and fun story lines, many of which that take place right inside the Montessori classroom itself. These books were created to foster independence and confidence in early readers.

 

By combining hands-on, self-directed exploration with contemporary educational research, our materials help educators implement Montessori in a way that’s both authentic and adaptable to the 21st century. The Decodable Book Series is a set of 97 decodable books written with the purpose of supporting children through early reading progress. Adorned with a mix of exciting real photographic images and interesting picture art, these books are diverse, representative, and are sure to be of interest, particularly for the child familiar with Montessori. The 97 books are divided into 8 sets, each covering an area of focus for reading skills. The series is color-coded to align with the colored beads in the environment, so the order will make sense to children who are navigating through the set on their own, and focus on each of the following skills: cvc words, digraphs & blends, endings, long vowel patterns, r-controlled vowels, multisyllabic words, and advanced phonics patterns. This set is easy to use, easy to navigate, and made for use with children.
